%20undeprived%20visual%20condition.%20As%20a%20result%20of%20Hebbian%20correlated%20learning%2C%20distributed%20word-related%20cell%20assembly%20circuits%20spontaneously%20emerged%20across%20the%20different%20cortical%20semantic%20areas%20exhibiting%20different%20topographical%20distribution.%20Third%2C%20the%20network%20was%20reactivated%20with%20the%20learned%20auditory%20patterns%20%28simulating%20word%20recognition%20processes%29%20to%20investigate%20the%20temporal%20dynamics%20of%20cortical%20semantic%20activation%20and%20compare%20them%20with%20real%20brain%20responses.%20In%20summary%2C%20the%20findings%20of%20the%20present%20work%20demonstrate%20that%20meaningful%20linguistic%20units%20are%20represented%20in%20the%20brain%20in%20the%20form%20of%20cell%20assemblies%20that%20are%20distributed%20over%20both%20semantic%20hubs%20and%20category-specific%20regions%20spontaneously%20emerged%20through%20the%20mutual%20interaction%20of%20a%20single%20set%20of%20biological%20mechanisms%20acting%20within%20specific%20neuroanatomical%20structures.%20These%20biological%20principles%20acting%20together%20also%20offer%20an%20explanation%20of%20the%20mechanisms%20underlying%20massive%20neural%20changes%20in%20the%20visual%20cortex%20for%20language%20processing%20caused%20by%20blindness.%20The%20present%20work%20is%20a%20first%20step%20in%20better%20understanding%20the%20building%20blocks%20of%20language%20and%20semantic%20processing%20in%20sighted%20and%20blind%20populations%20by%20translating%20biological%20principles%20that%20govern%20human%20cognition%20into%20precise%20mathematical%20neural%20networks%20of%20the%20human%20brain.%22%2C%22thesisType%22%3A%22doctoral%20thesis%22%2C%22university%22%3A%22Freie%20Universit%5Cu00e4t%20Berlin%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222019-05-20%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fdx.doi.org%5C%2F10.17169%5C%2Frefubium-2368%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22ZR92ZM63%22%2C%224BMGC6WP%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222022-03-18T16%3A25%3A03Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
